Every physician tells their patients to “eat better, sleep better, and get in better shape,” but very few offer a solid plan of action to help them get there. On the other hand, social media may be packed with millions of tips on how to be healthy, but many of them are contradictory, outdated, or flat out wrong.

We can help you understand the how and why of your health story, and transform your health through lifestyle choices that are safe, sustainable, and backed by science — no weird detox teas or weight-loss patches.

If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to improving your health or simply want to get an expert opinion on one topic, give us a call!

The Sound Hour is a one-on-one, 60-minute consultation where you set the agenda. If you have questions about a chronic condition you have or are curious about the best first steps for taking control of your own health, we are happy to help.

  • Who is this course for?
The Better You Base Camp Course is for anyone looking to improve their health whether you are just taking the first steps toward doing so or have tried in the past. Unlike other programs focused only on diet or exercise, this course covers all of the lifestyle factors involved in your health so you will certainly learn something new and how to apply the information to your life.
  • I'm a vegan / vegetarian / omnivore, etc, will the Better You Base Camp Course be appropriate for me?
At Sound Lifestyle Medicine we focus on a whole food plant based diet, but what we also emphasize is meeting you where you are at in your health journey. We are not here to tell you a WFPB diet is the ONLY way to eat. It's about finding out what works for you and your goals.
  • Does Sound Lifestyle Medicine promote a specific diet?
We want to work with you to meet your goals. The lifestyle changes you want to make should make sense within the context of your life, including what you do for work, your family and support network, and your access to whole foods, among other elements. While Sound Lifestyle Medicine focuses on a whole food, plant-based diet, we understand that nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all prescription — and that you need to enjoy a diet to stick with it! We will work with you to create a healthy nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle and satisfies your taste buds.
  • How do I find out more about the Better You Program?
Sign up for the Informational Call and we will be happy to answer all your questions about what the Better You Program entails and how it can help you get on the path toward better health!
  • How is lifestyle medicine different from functional medicine?
While both lifestyle medicine and functional medicine take a preventative, whole-person approach to health, functional medicine relies more heavily on the lab testing of various hormones and metabolites in the body. This generally isn’t necessary and can become quite expensive as the tests add up! Sound Lifestyle Medicine does have the ability to order labs, but they are not required. Establishing a baseline through robust lab testing is far more common in functional medicine, whereas lifestyle medicine works to optimize your six pillars of health without requiring extensive initial testing.
  • Will I be required to get blood work done?
No blood work is required, but it is certainly ideal to have this information to make the most informed choices. We generally recommend having the following blood work completed within the past year: Lipid panel A1c Basic metabolic panel Complete blood count
  • Do I need any specific apps, devices, or equipment when going through the Better You Program?
While we can work with you without any of these, it is often helpful to have items such as a weight scale and blood pressure cuff. We do not promote nor recommend any specific apps, but we can work with you if you have any that you already enjoy.
  • Does Sound Lifestyle Medicine work with employers?
    Yes, contact us directly at
  • What states are you available in?
Currently, our one-on-one services are only available in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, Minnesota, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin, but we will be expanding to other states soon. Let us know if you want to see our services in your state and keep an eye on our website and social media posts to stay informed!
  • Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA?
Sound Lifestyle Medicine is a cash-pay service. We do not currently accept insurance. Patients are able to submit fees to their FSA or HSA accounts for possible reimbursement. However, it is possible, that your doctor will be able to provide a “Superbill” that you can submit to your private insurance company for partial reimbursement (degree of reimbursement is variable depending on the type of insurance, medical condition(s) treated, etc).
  • Will there be any communication with my primary doctor, so they understand your service?
Yes, if you have signed up for the Better You Program, we will send a letter to your primary care physician or subspecialist to inform them we will be working together.
